Funkerman, real name Ardie van Beek, started off playing as a DJ in 1990. At first hip hop and R&B took his vibe, but when Funk started influencing house music, he was instantly addicted to this musical expression. After doing the bedroom DJ routine, he got his first weekly club residency in The Spock in Breda, NL. This club night gave him the opportunity to work on his sound, playing in a part of Holland where at that time no other club focused on house music. With this residency came along more bookings and when Funkerman started out working in a record shop and after that for a few record labels as an A&R manager, he really got to know the music industry. With his great sense for good music in general and his very down-to-earth personality, he now tries to make a difference. Spinning the decks at the best clubs in Europe and constantly working on better and bigger sets, he is now eager to explore the rest of the world.
